Rumored to be one of the most haunted towns in the United States, historic Ellicott City is the site for the 2014 HallowRead — a book festival and mini-convention for authors and fans of paranormal, urban fantasy, steam punk and horror — on Friday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 26.

A new gay film premiering in the Baltimore region on Friday features the actor Wendell Pierce -- of "The Wire" fame -- as a conflicted husband and father who has an affair with a teenage boy he meets online.
