Latinos rally in Washington for racial, economic justice Amnesty for immigrants, wages among concerns

Amid a colorful panoply of the flags of Latin America, thousands of Latinos marched in Washington yesterday, demanding racial and economic justice and an end to intolerance of immigrants.

Marchers carried placards, beat drums, chanted political slogans and even danced a bit down 16th Street from a park near the Latino neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, toward the Ellipse in front of the White House, where they gathered for a rally punctuated by the strains of salsa music. The rally started with the National Anthem sung in Spanish.
