- Check in here throughout the afternoon and evening to get the latest news from what's happening around the NFL and how it affects the Ravens.
- In his debut, Matt Elam recorded two tackles in a 44-16 preseason victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- After manhandling a soft Raiders front seven, the Ravens' line will be tested by the Steelers' OLB tandem of James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley. Their extensive repertoire of pass-rushing moves is formidable
- Ravens wide receiver LaQuan Williams is active for the first time this season for today's game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
- The Ravens are in good health heading into Sunday's kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs.
- It appears that the Ravens will be at full strength Sunday when they play the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
- In their last three games, the Ravens allowed opponents to gain just 2.7 yards per carry, which partially explains why teams have resorted to exploiting them through the air. But Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs, who rank second in the NFL in rushing, hope to seriously test the notion that the Ravens have tightened up in the trenches.
- Heading into the draft, it appears the Ravens, who were AFC North champions in 2011, haven't given much ground to their division rivals. Here's a quick look at what each of those three teams has done.

- Here's a look at recent media coverage of the Baltimore Ravens.
- Ravens' Rice, Suggs in running for "Madden" cover -- for better or worse
- Ravens running back Ray Rice is scheduled to become a free agent, but the team will place the franchise tag on him by March 5 in the hopes of working out a long-term deal with the Pro Bowl back. That's a bummer for teams looking for an elite back as Rice would have been the best available runner.
- We started to look ahead to the NFL offseason as soon as Billy Cundiff's field goal fluttered off-target and we will dive headfirst into the offseason two weeks from now when the scouting combine begins in Indianapolis.
- Ravens coach John Harbaugh isn't concerned about the run defense after Peyton Hillis gained 100 yards against it.
-
- Up 20-0, the Ravens let the Browns close to within 20-14 but held on to win.
- The Ravens' victory was tempered by injuries. Returner David Reed is out for the season with a knee injury, and guard Marshal Yanda's status is undetermined after he suffered a rib bruise.
- Ravens defense out to prove San Diego game was a fluke. Group realizes Browns will likely employ a similar strategy Saturday.
- Ravens sack Colt McCoy three times but hound him play after play after play
- Jimmy Smith makes his first start, grabs second interception of the season

- Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis said in a Wednesday conference call with Baltimore media that this has probably been the toughest season, both physically and emotionally, of his four in the NFL.
- Grumpy Ravens coach John Harbaugh on Monday had to answer a few questions about the use of Ray Rice in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Based on the line of questioning from reporters, I'm guessing at least one of those guys has Rice, who had 27 rushing yards on a season-low five carries, on their fantasy team.
- Last week, we looked at the biggest surprises of the 2011 fantasy football campaign. This time around, we will hand out dishonors to the disappointing (non-injured) players who have torpedoed our seasons so far. Try not to cuss too much in the comments section below after receiving this list, OK?
- Every season, a few surprise studs come out of fantasy Siberia to reward savvy owners who had the foresight to select them in the later rounds of the draft. A season ago, Adrian Foster, Peyton Hillis and Brandon Lloyd come to mind. Ray Rice, Miles Austin and Sidney Rice were unlikely heroes in 2009. And so on and so forth. Midway through the 2011 season, let's take a look at this year's biggest fantasy surprises.
- Carson Palmer will be a hot commodity on the waiver wire this week after the Cincinnati Bengals traded him to the Oakland Raiders for a pair of high draft picks. I can't imagine someone in your fantasy league already has him on his or her roster -- unless you're in a league with Mike Brown, who finally made a deal Tuesday.
- We've reached the quarter pole of the NFL season, and it's probably fair to say we still don't quite know what to make of this Ravens team.
- Torrey Smith torched the Rams in Week 3, catching five passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Now he is burning up the waiver wire, and you can be sure that someone will claim him in your fantasy league.
- The news that Peyton Manning will miss Week 1 with a neck injury -- and that his status going forward is unclear -- is good news for the Texans, Ravens, Patriots, Steelers and the other contenders in the AFC. It's bad news for fantasy football owners who were counting on Manning or other Colts to produce this year.
- The Orioles lost to the Blue Jays, 13-0, on Wednesday night. It was their most lopsided shutout loss since July 4, 2006. ... Rookie Tyrod Taylor, who will get the majority of the snaps in Thursday night's preseason game in Atlanta, is out to prove he's a viable No. 2 quarterback. ... Maryland tailback D.J.
