Dr. Jocelyn A. Farrar, who realized a lifetime dream of becoming a nurse and spent nearly four decades living it, died Saturday of mesothelioma at her home in Isle of Palms, S.C. She was 61. University of Maryland.

An effort by attorneys to revive and consolidate more than 13,000 lawsuits filed by people who contend they were sickened by absestos was met with sharp objections Monday morning by lawyers for potential defendants, who told a Baltimore judge that the strategy – which made a fortune for the Law Firm of Peter Angelos previously – was an unworkable and unfair way to handle cases that are languishing.
Baltimore's Housing Authority has repeatedly refused to pay court-ordered damages to now grown-up children poisoned by lead in the public housing units they grew up in. The victims' lawyers now are trying to seize the authority's assets.
