- What a difference a year makes. Last year at mid-season, Orioles fans were still skeptical. For 13-plus seasons, they had been disappointed either by slow starts or summer swoons. This year the Orioles are bona fide contenders, coming off a season where they reached the playoffs, and fans believe again.
