Ruth C. "Chris" Royer, a former McDaniel College trustee who had held several academic positions at Barnard College, died Nov. 5 after a brief illness at new York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She was 89.
Brooks, a Methodist minister, addressed McDaniel College students Monday evening. Brooks has served as the president and CEO of the NAACP since 2014. He travels the nation advocating for justice and change. He has spoken on behalf of the NAACP following high-profile incidents involving unarmed black men from Michael Brown to Terence Crutcher and has actively embraced the Black Lives Matter movement within the evolving continuum of civil rights activism.
Some of the students were excited to cast their ballots, while others were deciding to skip the election day frenzy. Students were also a mix when it came to the candidates- some were staunchly voting for Trump or Hillary, whereas others were undecided but almost begrudgingly leaning toward a candidate.
