- Longtime Hampden resident Jack Barr, a colorful, well-remembered character who trolled The Avenue for news and passed it on as a beloved town crier, died Sunday at the Manor Care nursing home in Towson, of heart disease and a colon infection at 79. Denise Whiting of Cafe Hon said he was "Hampden's original Facebook page."

- Rosella M. Beeler, a retired department store worker and homemaker, died of pneumonia Oct. 4 at Manor Care Health Services in Ruxton. The Campus Hills resident was 91.

- Hedy Hill, a stockbroker who led a successful effort to save the Woman's Industrial Exchange during a parlous financial episode, died of complications of an infection Sunday at Manor Care Ruxton. The Timonium resident was 69.
