Parents must serve as advocates for kids
As a Howard County parent who is almost finished getting my second child through the school system, I was very concerned about The Sun's article about "helicopter parents" ("Hovering parents bully teachers," March 4).
I consider myself a concerned and involved parent, but I always try to be respectful, open and appreciative of what teachers do each day.
But the pattern I have seen over the years is one of inconsistent communication from teachers, particularly once kids reach high school.
