Maryland lawmakers want to establish criminal penalties for educators and health care workers who fail to report child abuse, a move they hope will prevent the type of scandal that has devastated neighboring Penn State.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to attend first anti-animal abuse awareness event, with Peacekeeeper Motorcycle Club composed of law enforcement officers riding to the event in support. Event chairwoman is Judith Kunst, president of Greater Remington Improvement Association. Also there will be Aileen Gabbey, director of Hampden-based Maryland SPCA. Both Gabbey and Kuntz sit on Mayor's Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission, the only such group in the nation.
