DETROIT -- It ended up not costing the Orioles in their 5-2 win over the Tigers Tuesday night, but a controversial play in the seventh inning definitely could have turned the momentum of the game.

Orioles center fielder Adam Jones has seen enough of Justin Verlander to know that the deeper the Detroit Tigers' ace right-hander gets into games, the more unbeatable he becomes.

As the Orioles opened their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday night at Camden Yards, right-hander Jason Hammel recaptured his stellar form of earlier this season and the O's big inning was fueled by two Baltimore base-running blunders.
