Thirty years ago, there were hundreds of duckpin bowling lanes scattered along the East Coast, scores right here in the Baltimore area. The sport was something of a Baltimore obsession. Today, all but a handful of those lanes are gone. But there are signs of life in duckpin land — including renovations to Baltimore's Patterson Bowling Center, and hopes for a new duckpin alley/bar in a Hampden basement.

Suspect in Baltimore car theft, kidnapping caught

Baltimore Police on Friday identified the suspect in the theft of a vehicle with two small children inside Thursday as John Bowling, 37 — saying he is wanted on kidnapping and other charges and asking for the public's help in locating him.

Carol Bliss, longtime Baltimore real estate manager, dies

Carol Bliss, a longtime Baltimore real estate manager who opened the Long & Foster office in Roland Park and mentored many colleagues in her 40-year career, died on Sept. 26 of complications from a stroke at her home in Towson, her daughter said. She was 75.
