Nearly 100 volunteers and city workers spent Saturday, designated as National Public Lands Day, cleaning tons of illegally dumped litter from the lower extension of Herring Run Park, whose namesake river feeds into the Chesapeake Bay.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Whittmore Ave., in the Evergreen Lawn neighborhood of West Baltimore, after receiving a SpotShotter alert at 10:02 p.m. Saturday.
