In 1949, Baltimore Sun reporter Price Day won the Pulitzer Prize for distinguished reporting in the field of international affairs. His series of articles titled “Experiment in Freedom” followed the first year of India’s independence. Day later became the paper’s editor-in-chief. (Pan American Airways handout photo, 1946)
