- Priscilla G. Teeter, a registered nurse who later became an administrator with the Carroll County Health Department, died May 30 of brain cancer at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. She was 85.
- The Leo Club at Folly Quarter Middle School has done it again. Their latest service project involved collecting items to be used in motel boxes for the Grassroots Homeless Shelter in Howard County.
- Logan McDonough is finishing her junior year at Glenelg High School and is in the process of completing her Girl Scout Gold Award involving peer tutoring in the HCPSS Comprehensive Summer School Program.
- We walked the walk! Cecil County Relay for Life at Elkton High School was last Friday night under blue skies and warm sunshine

- Best friends Kristy Murray and Mandi Phillips -- co-chairs of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life at McCullough Field this weekend -- both have had family members suffer from cancer.

- Cheryl Bell has been participating in the Howard County Relay for Life in Columbia since 2002. After 11 events over the years, one aspect of the daylong effort to support cancer research remains her favorite.

- Krisana Goel is in 8th grade at Clarksville Middle School. She, along with Anjali Mahadevia and Anjali Shroff, both in 11th grade at Atholton High School, Sashi Rai in ninth grade at River Hill High School, and Leena Rai, in fifth grade at Pointers Run, founded an organization called South Asian Girls Education (S.A.G.E.) to change lives through education for girls.
