The Baltimore Sun

Maryland sophomore point guard Melo Trimble was named an honorable mention All-American on Wednesday by the Associated Press.

Trimble, who was a second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection, helped the Terps to a 27-9 record and the school’s first NCAA tournament Sweet 16 appearance in 13 years.

Trimble led Maryland in scoring (14.8) and assists (4.8) for the second straight season and also scored in double figures a team-high 28 times, scoring 20 points or more nine times.

Only the second player besides Joe Smith to have scored 500 points or more in each of his first two seasons, Trimble is the first Terp to be named an All-American since Greivis Vasquez was second-team in 2010.
