Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

In this week's recruiting roundup, Maryland football gets three new commits and Maryland basketball gets good news from a blue-chipper.

Football recruiting

-- Class of 2015 inside-linebacker target Gus Little announced Thursday that he committed to Maryland.

-- Then, hours later, Class of 2015 inside-linebacker target Brett Zanotto did the same, giving the Terps' class its 11th member.

-- Class of 2015 center target Mason Zimmerman also pledged Monday.

-- Class of 2015 quarterback target Kai Locksley and his father, Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, shed light on his recruitment and the father-son dynamics of recruiting. "I told Randy [Edsall] I'd like to step away,” Mike Locksley told The Baltimore Sun. “I'll be the dad, you need to recruit Mom.”

-- Class of 2015 defensive back target Darnell Savage has Maryland and Rutgers as his co-leaders, and could commit “soon” after an upcoming visit to College Park.

-- Class of 2015 defensive end target Darius Fullwood will commit June 28.

-- Class of 2015 center target Tommy Hatton committed to North Carolina last Friday.

-- Class of 2014 safety signee Josh Woods (McDonogh) was named Most Valuable Player for Maryland after making three interceptions in a Big 33 win over Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Basketball recruiting

-- Class of 2015 forward target Danjel Purifoy reportedly has Maryland as his top school and will visit after this summer. The 6-foot-6 Purifoy is rated the No. 21 overall prospect in 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

-- Class of 2015 forward target Esa Ahmad will trim his list to about a half-dozen schools next month, with Maryland likely among them, then announce in August, he told CSN Baltimore.

-- Class of 2016 guard target Jordan Harris reportedly has been offered by Maryland. The Seminole County (Ga.) High shooting guard also claims offers from Memphis, Connecticut, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and others. View highlights below:
