Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

In this week's recruiting roundup, it's playoff time for several Terps basketball signees.

Football recruiting

-- Class of 2015 defensive end target Ryan Buchholz committed to Penn State on Monday.

-- Class of 2015 athlete target Jalen Christian on Monday visited Maryland for the Terps-Syracuse men's basketball game.

Basketball recruiting

-- Maryland was in Massachusetts this week to watch two point guard prospects: Jalen Adams (class of 2015) and Makai Ashton-Langford (class of 2016)

-- Class of 2015 guard Allonzo Trier also visited Monday for the Terps-Syracuse game. A four-star prospect out of Montrose Christian, Trier received an offer earlier this month.

-- Class of 2014 signee Melo Trimble was held to a season-low 11 points in a 49-34 loss Saturday to Bishop Ireton that knocked Bishop O'Connell out of the WCAC tournament.

-- Class of 2014 signee Jared Nickens had 15 points in a 60-56 loss Saturday to Hill School for the Pennsylvania Independent Schools title. Class of 2015 target Georgios Papagiannis was held to only five points and five rebounds, one night after going for 23 points in a semifinal win. Nickens added 19 in that 73-57 victory Friday.

-- Class of 2014 signee Dion Wiley had 17 points in a 68-64 loss in the Prince George's County Championship on Thursday. Next up for Wiley and Potomac is the Class 2A state tournament.
