Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

In this week's recruiting roundup, Melo Trimble gets a call from Mark Turgeon and a commercial.

Football recruiting

--’s updated rankings for the class of 2015 feature x Maryland- and Washington-based players: offensive lineman Richie Petitbon (No. 60), defensive back Marcus Lewis, defensive lineman Adam McLean (No. 108), Franklin offensive lineman Pat Allen (No. 107), offensive lineman Isaiah Prince (No. 173) athlete Jalen Christian (No. 192) and offensive lineman Quarvez Boulware.

-- Class of 2015 offensive line commit E.J. Donahue received offers from Florida State and Wisconsin this week, but still considers himself committed to Maryland.

-- Class of 2015 athlete target Kamonte Carter committed to Penn State on Saturday.

-- Class of 2015 offensive line target Ellis McKennie (McDonogh) received an offer from Maryland, his first. Teammate and class of 2017 offensive line target Jordan McNair also picked up a Terps offer.

-- Friendship Collegiate Academy (D.C.) coach Aazar Abdul-Rahim, who oversaw several Terps commits (Albert Reid, Yannick Ngakoue) and targets (Jalen Tabor), took a job on Alabama’s defensive coaching staff.

Basketball recruiting

-- Class of 2014 signee Melo Trimble went for a combined 35 points in two games last week. Of more interest, though, is this quote: “Coach Turgeon will still call and text me and say, ‘We could really use you now.’” Given Trimble’s season and the Terps’ own, it’s hard to disagree. Or, for that matter, be surprised that he already has his own (obviously fan-made) commercial.

-- Class of 2014 signee Dion Wiley had 11 points in an 81-79 win Thursday night. Teammate and Class of 2015 prospect Randall Broddie scored a game-high 33.

-- Class of 2014 signee Trayvon Reed held his own against class of 2015 center Moustapha Diagne in a 67-50 win Monday.
