The Maryland football team's season-opening opponents through 2019 will be James Madison, Richmond, Howard, Texas, Texas (again) and Bowling Green. All but the first Texas game -- in 2017 -- will be home games (the 2018 game against Texas is at FedEx Field).
That's according to a copy of the schedule that we obtained.
Maryland will open next season -- its inaugural Big Ten year -- at home against James Madison. The Terps will then travel to South Florida, host West Virginia and play at Syracuse before its first Big Ten game at Indiana on Sept. 27. The first Big Ten home game will be Oct. 4, 2014, against Ohio State.
Maryland's Big Ten schedules had previously been released. The nonconference opponents were known, too. What is new is the nonconference dates. We didn’t know, for example, that Texas would be the season-opening game in both 2017 and 2018.
