With Maryland locking up a point guard (Melo Trimble), shooting guard (Dion Wiley) and small forward (Jared Nickens) in the 2014 recruiting class, attention has turned to post players.
CBSSports.com's Jeff Borzello recently caught up with one of the Terps' prime targets: four-star center Trayvon Reed.
In terms of colleges, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, Maryland and Miami are in pursuit, with Kansas recently showing interest. Reed has no visits planned but wants to take official visits before the summer ends.
** The Gazette this week wrote about Maryland's recent success with landing D.C.-area players.
About a year ago when [Roddy] Peters, [Melo] Trimble and the [D.C.] Assault were in Philadelphia for a tournament, [Mark] Turgeon was in the stands. A few weeks later the duo was playing with the Assault in Pittsburgh. Assistant coach Scott Spinelli in the stands. At the beginning of last basketball season at Henry A. Wise High School for the DMV Classic, Turgeon and Hill were there, chatting with [Damonte] Dodd and [Roddy] Peters after their games.
** InsideTheHall.com caught up with Mount St. Joseph guard Phil Booth at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend.
When asked what coaches he has the best relationship with, Booth mentioned Villanova's Jay Wright and Maryland's Mark Turgeon. But that doesn't mean his relationship with the Indiana staff isn't strong, too.
