Notes on Maryland 65, Radford 60

First, here's a quote that could make Terps fans gleeful. It came from Pe'Shon Howard after he was asked about 7-1 center Alex Len becoming available for the first time this coming Wednesday night against Albany.

“I can’t really put into words the difference he’ll make,” Howard said. Now back to Maryland's five-point escape against Radford. On an off shooting night by the Terps (36.8 percent from the floot, 62.5 percent on free throws), Maryland won by holding the Highlanders to four field goals in the second half. After shooting 46.7 percent in the first half, Radford shot 4-for-26 (15.4 percent) after intermission. That -- along with Pe'Shon Howard's return from his broken foot -- had to please coach Mark Turgeon. In the first half, 6-foot Radford guard R.J. Price had 16 points. He had just six in the second half as Maryland seemed to position itself better on defense."I coach by feel, and we'll figure it out," Turgeon said. "I think we've worked so hard defensively, and it showed in the second half."And here's a Turgeon-ism:*On Nick Faust (seven rebounds) shooting multiple air balls in the first half: "Yeah, I didn't know we had a breeze in the gym."
