Maryland will try against Wake Forest on Saturday to do what Duke recently did against the Terrapins — rebound after a trying loss.
The No. 5 Blue Devils beat Maryland 80-62 on Wednesday night. That game, along with a 74-57 loss to Virginia Tech, were Maryland's worst losses ever at Comcast Center. The Blue Devils had previously lost by 15 points to St. John's.
"Going into the Wake game, we'll see if we can do the same thing — get really ready to play after a tough loss," Maryland coach Gary Williams said Friday.
"Nothing changes the way I feel. I said it after the Virginia Tech game and I'll say it again. We're fortunate to be playing this quick where you have a chance to get back on the court and play," Williams said. "I can't do anything about the Duke game, but I can get really prepared for the Wake Forest game."
Maryland (14-8, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) needs a string of wins to build its case for an NCAA tournament bid.
The Terps beat Wake Forest (8-14, 1-6) 74-55 on Jan. 12 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Demon Deacons, under first-year coach Jeff Bzdelik, are last in the ACC standings and last in scoring margin (minus 7.0 per game).
