Outlook: Maryland's month-long homestand ends Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against the Colgate Raiders. Sophomore center Jordan Williams will look to continue his streak of seven straight double doubles against a Colgate squad coming off its first win of the season on Sunday. Williams is the first Maryland player to post seven consecutive double doubles since Joe Smith accomplished the feat in 1995. The school record for consecutive double doubles is 12 set by Len Elmore during the 1973-74 season.
Tuesday's game will be the Terps' final tune-up before the bulk of the Atlantic Coast Conference season begins on Sunday against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Terps are coming off a shaky, 85-62 victory over North Florida on Wednesday in which the team struggled to outrebound the Ospreys, turned the ball over and watched Williams — its leading scorer at 18.1 points per game — go 1-for-10 from the free-throw line. Williams finished the contest with a team-leading 17 points and 11 rebounds, but has been among Maryland's worst free-throw shooters this season. The sophomore leads the ACC in rebounding (11.8 per game) and is one of only two players in the conference averaging double figures on the boards.
Junior forward Yaw Gyawu leads Colgate in scoring at 12.1 points per game and is the only player to start all 12 games for the Raiders. Colgate defeated Longwood, 80-61, on Sunday.
