UM soccer assistant Payne to become head coach at Army

Russell Payne (Glenelg), a men's soccer assistant coach at Maryland, was named head coach at Army. The Terps were 99-30-12 with two national championships during his six seasons on the sideline. Payne played goalkeeper at Maryland from 1993 to 1996. ... Towson sophomore forward Liam Maloney was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Atlantic second team for the second consecutive season.

Junior colleges: The 12-sport Harford athletics program will make the transition to a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I classification across the board beginning with the 2010-11 season. Harford will become the first school in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference to have its entire athletic program compete at the highest NJCAA Division I level and the fifth school to have the same classification for all its sports. Baltimore City Community College (D-II), CCBC-Dundalk (D-II), Montgomery College-Germantown (D-III) and Montgomery College-Rockville (D-III) already have the same classifications for all their respective sports.
