No. 15 Terps women rout Kennesaw State in Miami Thanksgiving Tournament opener

Blair Watson hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points, Kaila Charles added 18 points, and the No. 15 Maryland women’s basketball team rolled to an 89-35 win Friday over Kennesaw State in the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Terps (4-2), who play Miami on Sunday, took care of this one quickly. Six players scored in a 15-0 run in the first quarter that produced a 19-2 lead. Maryland then had an 8-0 burst that turned into a 25-2 run in the second quarter and led 47-15 at the half.
Brianna Fraser picked up her second straight double double with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for the Terps. Miami native Channise Lewis chipped in 10 points with eight assists, one turnover and two steals. Stephanie Jones (Aberdeen) had nine points and six rebounds.
Breanna Hoover had nine points for the Lady Owls (1-5), who shot 23 percent. The Owls’ 39 points were the fewest allowed by the Terps this season.
