Maryland rising seniors Ty Johnson and Brendan Moore on Friday were named to the watch list for awards given to the nation’s top running back and center, respectively.

Johnson, who on Monday was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s top player, is one of over preseason 60 candidates for the Doak Walker Award. It’s the second straight season the Fort Hill graduate has been considered for the honor, presented annually to the nation's top running back.

Johnson led the Terps and ranked eighth in the Big Ten Conference with 875 rushing yards last year, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

Moore has been named a preseason candidate for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's most outstanding center, for the third straight season. One of 58 nominees, he has started 26 consecutive games at Maryland and helped anchor a productive running game the past two years.
