St. Bonaventure star senior guard Jaylen Adams (Mount Saint Joseph) reportedly will miss the Bonnies’ Emerald Coast Classic game Friday night against Maryland with a sprained ankle.

As a junior, the 6-foot-2 Baltimore native finished second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring (20.6 points per game), first in the league and seventh nationally in assists (6.5 per game) and second second in the league in steals (2.1 per game). He’s just the fourth St. Bonaventure player in program history to earn first-team all-conference honors in consecutive seasons.

Adams hurt his ankle in a preseason exhibition and has not played yet this season. St. Bonaventure, which was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10, lost at home to Niagara, 77-75, in its season opener before beating Jackson State and UMES.

Senior guard Matt Mobley, who like Adams received preseason first-team all-conference honors, has averaged 25 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in Adams' absence.
