Seven home games highlight Maryland football’s 2024 schedule, the Big Ten Conference announced Thursday.
Five of those games at SECU Stadium in College Park are conference tilts against Michigan State on Sept. 7, Northwestern on Oct. 12, Southern California on Oct. 28, Rutgers on Nov. 16 and Iowa on Nov. 23.
The Terps will open the season at home against Connecticut on Aug. 31 before kicking off Big Ten play against the Spartans. It will mark the earliest date Maryland has played a Big Ten game and the earliest date the program will have played a league game since Sept. 5, 2011, when that squad hosted Miami as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Maryland will travel to former ACC rival Virginia on Sept. 14 and then wrap up nonconference play at home the following weekend against Villanova of the Football Championship Subdivision on Sept. 21.
With former Pac-12 Conference schools USC, Oregon, UCLA and Washington joining the expanded 18-team Big Ten in 2024, the Terps will have their first meetings with the Trojans and Ducks next season. Maryland will face each league team at least twice during the next five-year cycle — once at home and once on the road. It will host UCLA and Washington in 2025.
The Terps will host their protected rival, Rutgers, on Nov. 16 and end the season at Penn State on Nov. 30. However, with the disappearance of the East and West divisions beginning next season, Maryland avoids playing both Ohio State and Michigan for the first time since joining the conference in 2014.
Television networks and kickoff times will be announced at a later date.
