The Maryland football team landed its first commitment for its Class of 2020, as DeMatha lineman Jordan White announced his pledge Wednesday night.
White, rated a three-star prospect by the 247 Sports Composite rankings, plays defensive tackle for DeMatha but is projected to play offensive guard in college. He is rated the No. 24 Maryland prospect in Maryland and No. 706 prospect in the nation in the 2020 class.
White is the second DeMatha player to commit to new Maryland coach Michael Locksley, who hired former Stags coach Elijah Brooks as running backs coach in December. Four-star safety Nick Cross, the Terps’ highest-rated prospect in five years, committed in February, helping Maryland secure the 46th-best 2019 class in the nation.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman chose Maryland over scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Syracuse, Virginia and UMass.
