Former Maryland center Damonte Dodd was acquired Sunday by the Northern Arizona Suns and could make his debut for the NBA G League team Tuesday night.

The Suns, the minor league affiliate of the Phoenix Suns, host the Austin Spurs before facing the Ford Wayne Mad Ants in Indiana on Sunday.

It’s not surprising that Kevin Huerter was more than a serviceable backup point guard after Darryl Morsell was injured, and more from the Terps' win over the Tigers on Monday.

Dodd, a Centreville native who started 69 games over his career in College Park, was most recently on the Delaware 87ers’ training camp roster. He was waived Nov. 2.

The Suns needed a center after former No. 1 overall draft pick Anthony Bennett left for Team Canada’s training camp ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifiers. He is expected to return to the team Nov. 28, when Northern Arizona plays at Delaware.
