Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

Gary Clark, a 2014 wing from North Carolina who recently earned a Terps offer, was listed by Rivals.com's Eric Bossi as a rising prospect who deserves Top 150 consideration.

A 6-foot-7 forward who is listed by some as a small forward, we prefer Clark as a slightly undersized but highly active four man. The fact is that he's amongst the best rebounders in his class and he was very productive and efficient for the CP3 All-Stars. He's been knocking on the door for a while and could finally be making his way into the rankings.

** Mount St. Joseph guard Phil Booth, a former Terps target, committed this week to Villanova.

Booth – a four-star recruit – chose Villanova over finalists Georgetown, Indiana and Temple. Villanova was one of the first schools to extend a scholarship offer to Booth, doing so during his sophomore season.

** Maryland didn't make the cut for Minneapolis shooting guard Rashad Vaughn, who trimmed his list to 11 schools: Arizona, Baylor, Connecticut, Georgetown, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, UCLA and UNLV.

** Paul VI junior wing Franklin Howard tore his ACL last month and could miss four-to-five months, according to the Washington Post.

Howard said he's heard from almost all of the 15-plus schools that have extended offers — a list that includes Maryland, Georgetown, Florida, Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech — and that none of the programs have said they will stop recruiting him.
