University of Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair died after a preseason workout in College Park on May 29. He was hospitalized at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died of heatstroke 15 days later. On Aug. 14, University of Maryland President Wallace D. Loh and athletic director Damon Evans apologized to the McNair family and took "legal and moral responsibility" for the circumstances leading to his death.
