Terps' Riser, Veii on crutches and out of scrimmage

Zeke Riser, a transfer expected to contribute immediately for Maryland on the defensive line, is on crutches and has a walking boot on his left foot.

The extent of his injury is not known. Asked about the player's absence from practice on Thursday, coach Randy Edsall had said he would address Riser's situation early next week.

Riser was spotted with the walking boot on the sidelines at today's scrimmage.

Riser transferred from Houston. The 6-4, 255-pound lineman from LaVernia, Texas, played for current Maryland defensive coordinator Brian Stewart with the Cougars so he's familiar with the 3-4 defense.

Also  on crutches now and in a walking boot (right foot) is freshman running back Jacquille Veii, who has impressed at training camp. No details yet.

Among those also not playing in today's scrimmage – their injuries were previously known – are receiver Deon Long (back), tailback Joe Riddle (head) and fullback Tyler Cierski (calf).
