Maryland wide receiver Deon Long was taken by ambulance from BB&T Field after being injured in today's Wake Forest game.
Trainers placed a stabilizing brace on one of the player's legs after he was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field in the first half in obvious pain.
Terps coach Randy Edsall at halftime told ESPN Radio he thought Long had a broken ankle. Results of an X-ray being performed at a local hospital were not immediately available.
In the fourth quarter, receiver Stefon Diggs was also carted off with his right foot heavily wrapped.
Diggs had caught eight passed for 67 yards before his injury. He's the Terps' second leading receiver this season, behind Long.
Long was blocking near the Maryland sideline when he appeared to get undercut by a Wake Forest defender on the play.
Fellow Terps receiver Stefon Diggs went over and whispered into Long's ear as Long was placed onto the stretcher.
Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson went to the ambulance to check on Long before the player was taken to a nearby hospital.
Long, a transfer in his first season with the Terps, is Maryland's leading receiver. He had four catches for 43 yards before being taken away with Wake Forest leading, 10-0.
