Maryland has lost another linebacker for Saturday's game at Wake Forest. Alex Twine suffered a labrum injury in last week's 27-26 victory over Virginia and is listed as "out" for Saturday.
Also out for Maryland is freshman wide receiver DeAndre Lane (concussion). Offensive linemen Nick Klemm, safety Jeremiah Johnson, fullback Tyler Cierski, receiver Tyrek Cheeseboro and linebacker Matt Robinson – who had all been out previously – remain sidelined.
Twine, a junior, is among three Maryland linebackers who won't play due Saturday to injury. The others are Robinson (rotator cuff) and Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil (pectoral injury).
Cudjoe-Virgil is out for the season. Robinson is expected to return, but it’s not sure when.
Twine could be out for longer that just this week, Edsall said.
Linebackers Yannick Ngakoue and Cavon Walker – both freshmen from Friendship Collegiate in Washington D.C. – are likely to see more playing time due to the injuries.
"They're kids that have a lot of ability," Terps coach Randy Edsall said Friday. "They've got to get some experience somehow, and now they're going to have that opportunity."
Twine, a junior, has 20 tackles – ranking 11th on the team – and one forced fumble.
Maryland announced that its game captains will be receiver Deon Long (offense), linebacker Cole Farrand (defense) and kicker Brad Craddock (special teams).
The Terps will wear white jerseys and red pants.
