Collins, a quarterback at Bishop McNamara, was transitioning to the secondary and had impressed coaches.

"We are very sorry to have the happen to Milan," coach Randy Edsall said. "He was playing very well during training camp and was going to see reps with the second string during our upcoming scrimmage. We will do everything we can to support him through his rehabilitation process."

The scrimmage that Edsall referred to is Saturday at 1:30 inside Byrd Stadium and is open to fans.
