Terps' Alyssa Thomas named Preseason ACC Player of the Year

Two-time ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas was chosen Wednesday as the consensus preseason women's basketball Player of the Year by the conference's head coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel.

The Maryland senior forward led the league in points (18 per game), rebounds (10.3) and assists (5.3) last season. She is the only player in NCAA history to average more than 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for a season.

The Terps were picked to finish third in the ACC behind Duke and Notre Dame in both the coaches and Blue Ribbon polls.

Freshman guard Lexie Brown was named to the Blue Ribbon Panel's ACC Newcomer Watch List.
