Stefon Diggs named to All-ACC preseason team

Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference's preseason team, the league announced today.

The sophomore from Gaithersburg is listed as the top specialist in the ACC. As a freshman, Diggs averaged 172.36 all-purpose yards, and returned kickoffs of 99 and 100 yards for touchdowns. Diggs ranked second last year in kick-return average (28.5) and fifth in punt-return average (10.0). His 1,896 yards last season were the second-most all-purpose yards in a season in Maryland history.

The ACC's top wide receivers on the preseason list were Clemson's Sammy Watkins and Wake Forest's Michael Campanaro (River Hill). Diggs was one vote shy of being named a first-team wide receiver.

Voting for the team was conducted by media in attendance at the ACC Football Kickoff, which was held July 21-22 in Greensboro, N.C. Sixty-five ballots were cast.
