After playing Georgetown in the first two years of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, Maryland will reportedly meet Butler next season in College Park.
The Bulldogs, who reached the NCAA championship game twice under current Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens, finished 25-9 last season and lost to eventual NCAA champion North Carolina in the Sweet 16.
Butler loses a number of rotation players from last year's team, but returns leading scorer Kelan Martin, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward who averaged team-highs of 16 points and 5.8 rebounds a game.
The Terps beat the Hoyas in the Gavitt Games both times the teams met, the first regularly scheduled games between the two schools since 1993-94.
Maryland has played Butler once, losing to the Bulldogs in the second round of the 2007 NCAA tournament in Buffalo, N.Y.
The news of the Maryland-Butler game, which will be played Nov. 15, was reported by FanRag Sports.
