If you didn't know better, you might think Randy Edsall is new here. Maybe nobody filled in the Maryland football coach on the unspoken rules that surround talking about anything Duke related in a positive light.
The fifth-year coach, who inked a contract extension through 2019 this summer, should feel fortunate if he is allowed inside Xfinity Center for Terrapins basketball games this year.
On Sunday night, Edsall, whose Twitter is cluttered with inspirational quotes from a variety of famous individuals, tweeted one from perhaps the most hated man in College Park: Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Terps fans were quick to let Edsall know about the line he crossed when quoting Krzyzewski. Randy Crow, who had tweeted once previously since May, wrote, "We all hate Coach K please don't use him as example ever again as he represents evil to the Maryland faithful."
Mike Copeland opted for a facepalm picture to offer his thoughts. And others were nearly left speechless, saying just "dude…."
Perhaps Edsall thought now that the Terps were a year removed from the ACC things were all goody goody between Maryland fans and Duke. Perhaps he never came to understand the hardwood rivalry because of the Blue Devils' lack of talent on the football field.
Regardless of what Edsall was thinking when he chose to quote Krzyzewski, the Terps faithful was sure to let him know what he did was wrong.
