The last time the Maryland women's basketball team defeated a No. 1 team in College Park was almost exactly 24 years ago — beating Tennessee on Dec. 30, 1992. The Terps not only get another chance Thursday against No. 1 Connecticut; they can end the Huskies' 86-game winning streak — second longest in NCAA history — in the process.

It won't be easy.

UConn has won 133 of its past 134 games. The Huskies have also won 29 of the past 37 games they have played against opponents ranked in the top five of the Associated Press poll, including the last 15 in a row.

Maryland's last win over a No. 1 team was April 2, 2006, against then-No. 1 North Carolina in the NCAA tournament.
