Nick Faust transferring to Long Beach State, per report

Former Maryland guard Nick Faust (City) has reportedly found a new home at Long Beach State.

Faust told that he has committed to play for the 49ers. He also tweeted "Bringin dat HEAT to TheBeach" with an Instagram photo of Long Beach State's court.

Faust is one of five scholarship players to transfer from Maryland's program since last season.

After initially committing to Oregon State, Faust reopened his search when Beavers coach Craig Robinson was fired.

Faust left Maryland seeking a bigger scoring role than he had with the Terps.

As a junior, Faust averaged 9.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2 assists in a little over 27 minutes a game and spent the second half of the season coming off the bench.

Faust will have to sit out the 2014-15 season in accordance with NCAA rules, but he should have a chance to play a major role for the 49ers as a senior.

Long Beach State currently lists nine players who will be seniors next season and only one shooting guard among its underclassmen.

The 49ers finished 15-17 last season after starting out 1-9 under Don Monson, who is in his seventh year at the Big West school after coaching at Gonzaga and Minnesota.
