Maryland sophomore Melo Trimble has been named one of 10 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the country’s top point guard.
Trimble will be trying to follow former Terps’ star Greivis Vasquez, who won the award as a senior in 2010.
Providence junior Kris Dunn is considered a prohibitive favorite to win the award.
Trimble, who leads Maryland in points (14.5), assists (5.4) and steals (1.3), is one of two Big Ten point guards on the list, along with Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell.
Also on the list is Kentucky’s Tyler Ulis, Iowa State’s Monte Morris, Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson, Brigham Young’s Kyle Collinsworth, Oregon State’s Gary Payton II, Southern Methodist’s Nic Moore and Oakland’s Kay Felder.
