Maryland to play at Northwestern for ACC/Big 10 Challenge

The Maryland men's basketball team will travel to Northwestern for the 14th annual ACC/Big 10 Challenge.

The Terps and Wildcats have met just once before, with Northwestern winning 66-62 on Dec. 6, 1958. The 2012 matchup is scheduled for Nov. 27.

Northwestern finished the 2011-12 season with a 19-14 record, including an 8-10 mark in Big 10 play. The Wildcats, who were 11-4 in non-conference play, have never made an NCAA tournament.

Northwestern loses leading scorer John Shurna, who averaged 20 points as a senior, but returns wing Drew Crawford (16.1 points per game) and point guard Dave Sobolewski (8.3 ppg). 

Maryland finished 17-15 last season. The Terps dropped a 71-62 decision to Illinois in the 2011 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
