Maryland men's soccer coach Sasho Cirovski has been suspended one game by the Big Ten for actions after the team's loss to Northwestern on Sunday that were in violation of the conference's sportsmanship policy.
As part of the penalty, the school has also been fined $10,000. Cirovski will incur the total cost of the fine, according to a team spokeswoman.
Cirovski will serve the suspension Wednesday night against Virginia Commonwealth.
According to a story in The Diamondback, Maryland's student paper, Cirovski "tried pushing his way toward the officials, his arms flailing and his voice booming" after the 3-2 overtime loss at Northwestern. The paper wrore that Cirovski needed to be held back as he approached three game officials.
