Maryland men's basketball picked to finish 10th in inaugural Big Ten season

An independent group of 27 sportswriters who cover the Big Ten picked the Maryland men's team to finish 10th in the 14-team league.

The results of the poll were compiled by Bob Baptist of the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch.

The highest Maryland was picked was fourth, by one voter. The lowest the Terps were picked was 11th, by three voters.

Wisconsin (378 points) was a unanimous choice to finish first. Rutgers, which joined the league with Maryland this year, was also a unanimous choice -- to finish last.

Ohio State (322) was picked second, followed by Michigan State (305), Nebraska (299), Minnesota (226) Michigan (286), Iowa (214), Illinois (196), Indiana (163), Maryland (162), Purdue (95), Penn State (84), Northwestern (78) and Rutgers (27).
