Junior defensive tackle Joe Vellano was honored as Maryland's MVP Sunday night at the Terps' annual football banquet at the Stamp Student Union.
Vellano, who also was named best defensive player and top lineman, finished his junior season with 94 tackles, including 7.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks, four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. The Rexford, N.Y., native was a first-team All-ACC pick and a second-team Walter Camp All-American.
