Former Maryland football player Will Ulmer, who left the Terps in the aftermath of Randy Edsall's mid-season firing last fall, has enrolled at Alabama-Birmingham, according to al.com.
Ulmer tweeted Thursday morning that he officially committed to the school.
Ulmer had been attending Western Iowa Junior College since leaving College Park and was being reportedly being recruited by Illinois when he decided to join the Blazers, who are resurrecting their program beginning in 2017 after the school's controversial decision to drop football following the 2015 season.
A former Under Armour All-American, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Ulmer started his career as a quarterback at Maryland before being switched to receiver. Long considered one of the team's fastest players, Ulmer was redshirted as a freshman and barely played last season before transferring.
"He 100 percent came on the scene late," UAB coach Bill Clark told al.com. "We'd heard of him, he was out there available in junior college. We had a need at receiver. It's a blessing."
