Former Maryland and Portland State running back D.J. Adams signed with the San Diego Chargers' practice squad Tuesday, the team announced.
Adams, 5 feet 9, 215 pounds, signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in May. He was released by San Diego in June. But he signed with the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 9 and was with the Cowboys until being released in late August.
Adams signed with Maryland as a four-star recruit in 2009 and spent three years with the Terps before transferring to Portland State after his redshirt sophomore season in 2011.
Adams rushed for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior at Portland State last year while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He also had 14 catches for 180 yards.
