Maryland guard Dez Wells, whose early-season wrist injury derailed what had been a terrific start to his senior year, has finally started to play as well as did in the team's first few games.
After averaging 20 points and four rebounds in victories last week over Indiana and Penn State, Wells was named the Big Ten's Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky.
Kaminsky averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots in victories over Nebraska and Illinois. It marks the first time that Wells received a conference Player of the Week honor since coming to Maryland as a sophomore.
Wells has averaged 17.3 points over the past six games, scoring in double figures in all of them.
Maryland (21-5, 9-4 Big Ten) moved up from 19th to 16th in this week's Associated Press Top 25. The Terps return to action Thursday at home against Nebraska.
